August 4

Each summer Olbrich Gardens does Blooming Butterflies.  Several varieties of butterflies hatch in the Conservatory and live out their life cycle eating nectar and flitting among the tropical plants.  If you're very lucky, one will even land on you as you walk paths.  There are fans by the doors that gently blow over visitors as they leave to make sure there are no winged passengers leaving the exhibit, too.  A local butterfly collector brings his cases to the Gardens each year and shares his amazing collection with the visitors as well....  Mary
