It's Eileen's birthday. We all went out and had a great dinner, then came back to the house for dessert. Happy Birthday, Sweet Pea! Mary

Full moon tonight, so this Sunday is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the northern Vernal Equinox. That's how they decide on the date for Easter. Don't care what the Church says, that is just so pagan.... Mary

The temperature is slowly, slowly rising, but we're not up to average temps yet for this time of year. By the weekend, we are supposed to hit 50 though. We'll see what the little rabbit in front has been up to.... Mary

These modular pieces are really fun. It's good practice to do the folding multiple times, and then they all fit together to make cool shapes.... Mary

There is a rabbit frequenting the fallen seeds under our bird feeder outside the kitchen windows. I just wonder which of my plants the bunny is munching on as well. In years past, the barberry has gotten hit pretty hard. We had 20" of snow this year before I had a chance to cover it, and it hasn't cleared since. We'll just have to wait for the thaw to see how the little shrub fared.... Mary

Fascinating documentary on PBS called Humble Beauty: Skid Row Artists. It is about an arts program in Skid Row in LA. Art is truly redemptive.... Mary

The past few days have been sunny, and the snow around the big tree in front of our house has melted away. The crocus are just barely starting to come up. Tiny green tips just showing through the dirt.... Mary

We got up to 30 degrees today, and it felt like a heat wave. It really helps that the sun has been shining.
These cranes were made from 3 & 4 inch papers. Folks fold cranes from even tinier papers, but I have no idea how they manage it.... Mary

Anne and I did errands tonight after work in the single digit wind chill. So much for the first day of spring. At least it's also International Day of Happiness, so we can all feel good about that.... Mary

Last year at this time it was unseasonably warm for March. Sixty degrees warmer to be exact. I'd just settle for above freezing at this point. We're going to have a high of 19 degrees tomorrow... Mary

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Rick and I went to the Spring Flower Show and the Conservatory at Olbrich Gardens. It was spectacular: tulips, primrose, hydrangea, art, ponds, sculpture in the flower show. Jasmine, waterfalls, birds, and orchids in the conservatory.... Mary

The bird base fold is the hardest of the three I've done this week. It has the tightest folds and creases, but it's fun to see it actually turn into a bird.... Mary

The hard drive on my work computer died this morning. It just stopped working in mid-email. And then our IT guy, St. Ravi, swooped in; got a new hard drive from DoIT; managed to get the dead one to come to life just long enough to transfer the data; and I was back in business by 3:00. Sometimes problems are just not that big thanks to the amazingly competent and thoughtful people around us.... Mary

Even more fire related problems cropping up. The fire itself was bad enough (and thank heavens for the professional firefighters who responded) but there is so much peripheral damage that goes along with it. Today it was all the freezer filters in the building, and it's a big building with a lot of freezers. All of the filters have to be replaced to make sure they're not contaminated and blocked. This continues to be an education for everyone involved.... Mary

Long day at work dealing with the aftermath of last week's fire. At least we only have to deal with the problems in our department not the entire building. I don't envy the building management folks who do.... Mary
